I recently had the grand realization that the man I adored is a sociopath to the core-Yes, he had a terrible childhood for the most part but lots of people do & they dont cause the harm SPs do.Now, I can see the extent to which he played his games. From what I understand, they are scary in their ability to find truly nice, good, caring people to target.People who would never think of hurting them.I think they take great pleasure in :BRINGING OUT THE WORST" in good people. It makes them feel like they are not so bad-of course thats a horrible way to make ones self feel better but they dont see it like that. It is like they feed off of ones insecurities & fears-they see others as weak for being naive or vulnerable & figure their victim deserves what they got for being so weak.SUBTLE-this man was so very subtle, very skilled & very apathetic- It makes me sick to think that there are so many SPs in the world. Most never go on to commit heinous crimes such as murder or rape. The crimes they commit cannot be proven in a court of emotional law but they should be.I feel like I wont ever trust another man again because of him

"like photocopying a mirror. He tries to pass his reflections on to me without seeing them himself."
Love it. So spot on.

very insightful, well thought out and written!
i've come in contact with a couple during my dating years. they were incredibly alluring, confident, charming, self-absorbed and a little scary. luckily i couldn't handle them and backed away only to be pursued by one the point of involving the police.

Of course there are also female sociopaths. I wasn't suggesting that only women fall for male sociopaths and not vice versa. I only concentrated on men because of the two TV characters I was discussing. But yes, I'm sure I could just as easily write this choosing two female tv sociopaths...

Very well written and thought provoking. I wonder if it is gender specific. Do men fall for sociopaths, too?

Very interesting observations. I don't think the "sociopath attraction" is something new but there seems to be a new willingness to explore and even accept it in some circles. There's a lack of foresight about the ultimate consequences for sure.
